A lot has happened since my last entry
Thoughts…
A lot has happened since my last entry. People have joined us and people have temporarily left us. This entity known as Bakersfield College very much is a living and breathing thing. It rolls forward on its own like a lumbering beast, a good beast that is. The staff and students exist with in that beast, but only as far as how Pinocchio was inside Monstro the wale. However the hearts and souls of the students and staff give it life and it seems even in these bad economic times the sprit is up and staff and student alike are thankful to be here.
The Past and Present…
I began my interaction with Bakersfield College back in 1995. I have been a student, after two wars a returning student and now proudly staff. Up till now I have never seen such school sprit, and it seems to be growing now everyday. I get so excited when I find someone with as much passion as me for this institution.
Future…
Things that I have heard are brewing on this campus. I’m not at liberty to divulge them at this time. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that in approximately two years there is going to something very exciting and amazing to celebrate here at Bakersfield College. Everyone is starting to gear up toward this event and from what I can tell it’s going to be amazing!
New Direction…
I mentioned that there were some new people that have joined us here. One of them is new here in the Graphics Center. Mike Borjon is an amazing digital artist. He has an amazing resume and works in 3D often. He has introduced me to Zbrush a 3D sculpting program. I have realized that this is truly the way the knight needs to evolve. For several reasons; one being that a painting is just that. Once it’s done that’s all you have. Try to reproduce it and you get the splintered images that we have now floating around. With a 3D sculpt you have more control in the sense that you can provide what ever that entity of the college needs and it is exact every time. Two you can provide more to the college than ever before. Screen savers, backgrounds, posters, and a plethora of other promotional material. Also the knight can be put in to seasonal things such as snow or fall settings for the seasons with no deviation ever from his looks. The mascot can also be placed doing things with various sports equipment such as throwing a football for football promotional posters. The possibilities are endless and the control is infinite.
Next Time…
Next entry will feature the beginnings of the new 3D Shield and I will talk about the amazing possibilities of 3D printing. I will be posting my progress pictures here as far as the knights progress goes. My general progress will be posted at http://erickmain.blogspot.com/
